Lawrence Bishnoi interview comes days before Moosewala death anniversary
In the interview, Lawrence Bishnoi claimed to be a nationalist and stated, “I am not anti-national. I am a nationalist. I am against Khalistan. I am against Pakistan.”

Days before Sidhu Moosewala’s first death anniversary, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi appeared on a national TV channel and made sensational allegations against the dead singer while claiming to be a nationalist.
In the interview, Bishnoi justified Moosewala’s murder and claimed to be a nationalist, despite the National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigating him for alleged links with Pakistan in a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Bishnoi is currently incarcerated at Bathinda Central Jail, having been brought back there from Rajasthan police custody last week.
The interview comes at a time when the parents of Sidhu Moosewala and the Congress are increasing pressure on the Aam Adami Party during the ongoing assembly session. Moosewala’s parents recently staged a protest outside the Punjab Assembly to demand justice for their son’s murder. A large crowd is expected to gather for Moosewala’s death anniversary on March 19.
Moosewala’s parents have stepped up their efforts to demand justice during the state’s by-election for the Jalandhar parliamentary seat.
In the interview, Bishnoi claimed to be a nationalist and stated, “I am not anti-national. I am a nationalist. I am against Khalistan. I am against Pakistan.”
Bishnoi was arrested by the NIA last year from a jail in Punjab in connection with a case related to a conspiracy hatched by terror groups and criminal syndicates to carry out violent acts and sensational crimes in different parts of the country.
The Punjab Police had previously underlined Bishnoi’s influence in jails in a status report submitted in Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case.
“Lawrence Bishnoi is a dreaded gangster who has around 50 cases registered against him in Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. He has been operating his gang from Delhi’s Tihar and Rajasthan jails with the help of his associates and indulging in extortion, murders, etc. He has associated with the gangsters of different states and is operating at pan-India level now,” reads the status report.
It further reads, “While being lodged in jail, he has got several murders and extortions committed in Punjab and Chandigarh for which he was named as an accused. Earlier too, warrants of his production were issued by the courts in Chandigarh and in Punjab, but he procured a stay against it from the Supreme Court.”
Bishnoi was shifted out of Punjab Jail on January 2, 2020, and was brought back to Punjab jails only after murdering of Sidhu Moosewala.
A resident of Fazilka in Punjab, Bishnoi has been in jail since 2014 after he was arrested during an encounter with the Rajasthan Police. He was shifted to Delhi’s Tihar jail last year but was arrested by the Punjab Police on June 14 in connection with the sensational murder of Moosewala on May 29.
