AIIMS doctor to give final opinion on cause of death
The Haryana police have started looking into suicide angle in the Karnal murder case of former sarpanch Karam Singh and suspect he would have committed suicide and then tried to frame senior politicians.
It is possible that Karam Singh committed suicide and allegedly concocted murder theory to put former transport minister O P Jain and ex-chief parliamentary secretary Zile Ram Sharma on the dock for allegedly not refunding the money he had paid to them to secure jobs for his kin, senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.
But they could not explain the reason behind his injuries.
The State Crime Branch, which is probing into the murder case, refused to comment.
Haryana police have now approached the head of forensic medicine in All India Institute of Medical Sciences,T D Dogra,to take his final opinion on the cause of Karam Singhs death.
Dogra has told the police that unless he sees the comprehensive statement (views) of the three doctors panel, who conducted the post mortem examination,he shall not be form any opinion in the case, Sharad Kumar, additional director general of police,Crime, said.
Meanwhile, police are waiting for Rohtaks Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences forensic medicine head Piyush to return from his 15-day leave on Monday to record his statement.
Piyush headed the three-member board of doctors which conducted the post mortem examination on Karam Singhs body. The board of doctors at PGIMS mentioned poison in Karam Singhs blood as his cause of death.
We had been trying to locate Dr Piyush but learnt that he was on leave. He is expected to join back on Monday. The other two doctors, whose statements are to be recorded along with Dr Piyushs on the post mortem examination report, have said that since Dr Piyush was heading the team, they shall not be in a position to give any statement in his absence, said a senior Crime Branch officer.
We have to wait for Piyushs return. Once he comes back,we record his statement and then take it to Dogra in Delhi to seek his final opinion on the case. Then only, the investigation will move further, Kumar said.
