Union Road Transport and Highways Minister C P Joshi will lay the foundation of the Rs 1,800-crore Panipat-Bawal National Highway project at Jhajjar on May 15.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda announced this at Jhajjar on Tuesday after participating in a function organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar. This national highway will connect northern and southern Haryana through Panipat,Rohtak,Jhajjar and Bawal.
While the Bawal-Jhajjar-Rohtak section will be 85 km-long and is likely to cost about Rs 1,000 crore, the 82 km-long Panipat-Gohana-Rohtak section will incur about Rs 800 crore.
Hooda claimed that no village will be affected as the highway will bypass the villages in the route. Several bypasses will be constructed in this highway,he added.
Saying that there cannot be any doubt that apart from the Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak rail line, the new highway project will provide a new direction to the progress of the state,Hooda said as a result of this project, the distance between Panipat and Bawal will not only be reduced but also benefit the southern parts of the state.
