INLD chief Abhay Chautala receives death threats, son files police complaint in Chandigarh
INLD chief Abhay Singh Chautala was granted Y+ category security after his private secretary received two threatening WhatsApp calls and three voice messages warning of assassination earlier.

INLD senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala (File Photo)Karan Singh Chautala, son of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Abhay Singh Chautala, submitted a written complaint at the police station in Chandigarh Sector 3 on Tuesday, alleging that he received a threatening WhatsApp call and message targeting his father.
In his complaint, Karan Singh Chautala stated that the call came at around 11 pm on Monday from an unknown number, but the caller disconnected the call as soon as he answered it. Shortly afterwards, he received a WhatsApp message from the same number containing abusive language and a direct threat to his father, warning of severe consequences if Abhay Chautala “comes in their way”.
Karan further stated that a threatening call and message were also received on the phone of Ramesh Godara, the private secretary to Abhay Chautala. In this instance, the caller reportedly issued a “final warning”.
The complaint also refers to an earlier incident during Abhay Chautala’s padyatra, when Ramesh Godara received two threatening WhatsApp calls and three voice messages warning of assassination. A case had been registered at the Jind Sadar police station, following which the INLD leader was granted Y+ category security.
Karan also pointed to the recent murder of former MLA Nafe Singh Rathi, noting that the accused in that case remained absconding. He expressed concern over the safety of his father and family members, citing their outspoken criticism of the state government’s policies and their role in raising public issues.
In light of the repeated threats, Karan has urged the Chandigarh police to trace and arrest the unidentified caller and sought enhanced security measures for his father.
