Influential people,100 girls… and lakhs of rupees: Taped conversations between cop,‘front man’ have it all

Call it name-dropping or their access to influential people,Vikram and Harinder are,in the recorded conversations,chatting about a probable “false” case to be registered against Vikram by some influential person in Amritsar. There are a total of three recorded conversations,two allegedly between Vikram and Harinder and one between Paramjit and Vikram. The relevant excerpts from the tapes submitted in the court:

‘No SHO gets involved for 5-10 lakhs’

In one of the conversations,Vikram refers to money allegedly offered to two police officers of Punjab,both Station House officers (SHOs) of two districts in Punjab. Vikram says that five lakh each has been given for the two SHOs. Mocking Vikram,the person at the other end,allegedly Harinder,says “5-10 lakhs laye koi SHO parwah nahin maarda (no SHO will get involved for a petty amount of five to 10 lakh rupees)”.

Then Harinder allegedly mentions about the close contact the person concerned has with a senior politician of Punjab. When Vikram mentions about the brother of the person (he suspects),Harinder says “ohdi ghar wali mere naal set hon lagi si (his wife was about to get involved with me)”. Vikram corrects him by saying the man’s wife is no more and that it was his girlfriend.

“Aho,oh film actress… ohda scene mere naal chal gaya… (Yes,that flim actress,she got involved with me),” says Harinder,adding that the suspected person had requested his (Harinder’s) wife to ask me to get away from the girl (film actress). “Hun mere pichhe 100 kudian ghumdian,main ki karaan (there are over 100 girls after me,what can I do?)”

‘Please arrange 1.5 lakhs,I need to go to Mumbai’

In another conversation,Harinder calls up Vikram requesting him for over Rs 1 lakh. He says it is “very very very urgent” as he has received calls from Mumbai.

“I need to go to Mumbai,I am getting a lot of calls from Mumbai. Please arrange one or one and a half lakh rupees. I have to stay in Mumbai for 15 days. I will be able to survive with 1.5 lakh rupees….Vicky please help me,I am broke…. At one point of time,I used to have seven to eight lakh rupees in my account,now I am left with only Rs 7,000… If my work is done,I will always help you,” says Harinder.
