Actor Tarun Khanna on melodrama, dhoti and auditions for a new reality show Nidar

That crying can take a toll on your eyes is common knowledge. But what’s not is the effect when it’s faked for too long. “Your eyes burn like someone’s put red chilli powder in them,” says Tarun Khanna about what he’s been doing for the last seven months — “not crying in reality but on reel”. “My character in the serial Ganga on Colours demands that I cry. So much so that at times I go back home in a bad mood,” says Khanna. He finally has something to smile about — Khanna is conducting auditions for Nidar ,a reality show on MH1,at Makhan Shah Lubana Bhavan,Sector 30.

“This one’s a breather,” he says. On this show,he’s the anchor and the judge. “The show’s had me travel through Punjab to find the right kind of talent. It fulfills my streak for adventure as I get to meet daring youth. I am particularly impressed by the girls of Punjab who are ready to take up any challenge head-on.”

Next,Khanna says,he is keen on doing a show that’s action-packed and stylish. “Something like the James Bond series,” he smiles. He’s also looking forward to “putting on some clothes. Both my shows Ganga and, before that,Vikram and Betaal, had me in the yogi look with just a dhoti and a stole but no shirt. Now I want to flaunt trendy clothes rather than my body. Not that I have anything against showing off my gym-toned physique,” he says with a smile.
