Engine detached from running train
The engine of a passenger train, which had left the Ambala Cantonment station for Saharanpur, was detached from the bogies after the coupling which attaches the engine with the bogies broke near the Tandwal station, about 10 km from here, on Saturday. The engine had proceeded less than two kilometres, leaving behind the bogies. After noticing the fault, the driver got the engine back to Tandwal, where it was attached with the train. However,as the coupling again broke after travelling a brief distance, the train was halted outside the station, leaving the passengers stranded for hours in the scorching sun. A few days ago,an express train had changed its course when it was signalled to proceed on a wrong route to Delhi instead of the Saharanpur line.
