HOA led by Rathee issues notice to IOA
PANCHKULA: The Haryana Olympic Association faction led by PV Rathee has issued a contempt of court notice to Indian Olympic Association president Sursh Kalmadi and Randhir Singh,secretary,IOA. Addressing a press conference on Monday,Rathee said the decision of RK Anand,chairman of IOA’s Discipline Committee to recognise Abahy Singh Chautala led HOA is wrong. The Annula genral Meeting of the Rathee group was held on Monday in Panchkula and Rathee said they will take legal action against IOA is they don’t go back from their decision. Adding further,Rathee said they have given a one week notice to Anand and would further take legal action if proper steps are not taken.
Cricket coaching camp from June 11
CHANDIGARH: Bharti Vij Cricket Academy and Ropar Cricket Association will jointly conduct summer coaching camp on from June 11 to 20 for young cricketers at the Government College Cricket ground at Ropar.Bharti Vij a former Ranji and Duleep Trophy player from Punjab and also the highest wicket taker for Punjab so far in Ranji Trophy,informed that latest techniques of fielding,running between wickets,video analysis (batting and bowling) will be applied during the camp. Each and every individual’s video recording will be done. Apart from Bharti who is a level 2 BCCI coach few other qualified coaches and former Ranji trophy players will also be visiting the camp on regular basis to impart some useful tips to the campers. U-19 tourney gets underway from today
CHANDIGARH:The Punjab State Inter-District Under-19 tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy will get underway at Jalandhar,Chandigarh,Patiala and Ludhiana June 8 onwards. The teams have been divided into two pools. Pool A consists of Chandigarh,Jalandhar,Amritsar and Ropar while Pool B will have Patiala,Ludhiana,Mohali and Bathinda. In Pool A,Jalandhar will take on Ropar at Jalandhar and Chandigarh will lock horns with Amritsar at Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh. In Pool B,Patiala will clash with Bathinda at Patiala while Mohali will travel to Ludhiana for their tie against Ludhiana.To assess the performance of the players,members of the Junior Selection Committee have been assigned different centres.
Gagandeep nets 5 as Chandigarh rout Kerala
CHANDIGARH:Riding on a brilliant five-in-a-row feat by captain Gagandeep Singh Chandigarh gave yet another thrilling performance by routing Kerala by 6-0 in their second cluster III match in the 47th Junior National Football Championship for Dr B C Roy Trophy at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. According to Tejinder Kumar,a senior coach of the Chandigarh Sports Department who is accompanying the team,said the Chandigarh team which have 14 trainees of the Chandigarh Football Academy,a venture of the Chandigarh Administration,said Gagandeep Singh displayed outstanding performance by scoring five goals,including four in the first half. Chandigarh had to wait for 29 minutes to open their account through Gagandeep who went on to score in the 32nd,39th,44th and 65th minutes. Rajinder Kumar rounded off the winners tally with a fine goal in the 80th minute. It was Chandigarh’s second successive triumph as they had earlier thrashed Gujarat by 7-0 in their opening encounter.
Rahul anchors DPACA Red to win
Chandigarh:Buoyed by a fine knock of 74 runs by Rahul Chabra,Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy Red team scored an easy five-wicket win over Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy Blue team in a league match of the Blue Chilly Summer League Tournament being played at St Stpehen’s School,Sector 45 on Monday. Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy Blue team won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first,they posted a total of 174 runs in 37.4 overs. Sukhraj Singh played a fine knock of 50 runs. Singh smashed four boundaries and two towering sixes during his knock. Himanshu Khattar was the another main scorer as he played a knock of 28 runs. Gaurav Singh played a knock of 18 runs. For Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy Blue team,Talwinderjeet Singh Junior claimed three wickets for 27 runs. Chasing a target of 175 runs,Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy Red team reached the target for the loss of five wickets in 31.5 overs. Rahul Chabra played a knock of 74 runs while Lovejeet Singh played a knock of 56 runs.
SSCB claim overall title
Patiala:SSCB claimed the overall championship in the men’s category while Kerela claimed the overall championship in women’s category on the concluding day of the Second federation Cup Fencing Championship held at Punjabi University,Patiala. In the men’s Foil team event,Manipur secured the top spot while SSCB claimed second position. The third position was claimed by Punjab. In the Epee team event. SSCB secured first position while the second spot was claimed by Manipur. The third spot was claimed by Uttrakhand. In the Sabre team event,SSCB secured the top spot while the second spot was claimed by Punjab. The third spot was claimed by Haryana.
In the men’s individual foil event,Vijay of SSCB claimed the top spot while Sovaraj of manipur claimed the second spot. The third spot was shared by Gaurav Gupta of Chandigarh and Rajeshwar of Manipur. In the Epee event,Himalaya of Madhya Pradesh claimed the top spot while the second spot was claimed by Sandeep of SSCB.
