Pak delegate dies of heart attack
A Pakistani delegate,who was here to attend a conference,died of heart attack in Gurdaspur district on Sunday morning. Chaudhary Naseer Ahmad (75),a resident of Markana village of Gujrat district in Pakistan,and his wife Nazir Begum were in Qadian to participate in the conference of Ahmadiyya community,a spokesman of the conference said. The couple was living in Sarai Tahir. Ahmad complained of chest pain and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,the spokesman said. Around 5,000 Pakistani delegates are taking part in the three-day conference.
Body of newborn girl found
Body of a newborn girl was found in the fields,on the outskirts of Naura village on Banga-Garhshanker road on Sunday. Police said the body was found by a farmer. Investigations are being carried on in the matter. Sarpanch of the village Nirmla Sogi said anyone who provides any information about the baby will be rewarded with Rs 1,000
4 booked for hurting religious sentiments
Jagtar Singh and three others were booked for blasphemy after a complaint by Bhupinder Singh,sarpanch of Bhagwan village. The complainant said the accused threw the copies of Adi Granth and took money from the golak of the gurdwara in the village. A case under Sections 457,380,295-A of the IPC and 34 of the Arms Act has been registered.
Woman accuses in-laws of harassment
The Majitha police have booked five persons for demanding dowry. Harinder Pal Kaur,a resident of Sainsara near Jhander,in a complaint said that her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry ever since she was married in 2005. Her husband Sukhwinder Singh,father-in-law Karaj Singh,mother-in-law Amrik Kaur,Sukhwinders uncle and aunt Bikkar Singh and Gurmit Kaur have been booked.
