IISER scientist’s death: Neighbour arrested

Days after an Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) scientist died after he was pushed to the ground following heated exchanges with his neighbour over a parking dispute in Mohali, police on Saturday arrested the accused Maninderpal Singh alias Monty.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City-2, Harsimran Singh Ball, said that Monty was arrested from Sector 65 on Saturday and will be produced before the duty magistrate’s court on Sunday for further proceedings. IISER project scientist Abhishek Swarnakar, 39, was declared brought dead at Fortis Hospital late on Tuesday, allegedly following a parking dispute with a neighbour in Mohali’s Sector 66.
