Four of the 12 resident doctors at the PGIMER,admitted in the hospital for Hepatitis A infection,were discharged on Thursday.
Doctors attending to the patients described the infection as low intensity and said that though the remaining resident doctors have been kept under observation,their condition is stable.
The water samples taken from the hospital,meanwhile,passed all purity tests.
The authorities had taken water samples from all sources at the PGI,including those from hostels,to detect the source of contaminated water that could have led to the infection. Those engaged in preparation and delivery of food at the hostel were also examined,but the tests were negative,said PGI officials.
PGI spokesperson Manju Wadwalkar told Newsline,Eight resident doctors are admitted and their condition is stable. The water samples have passed the purity tests and we are yet to detect the exact cause of infection among the doctors.
Four more cholera cases reported in Mohali village
MOHALI: After a cholera epidemic was declared in Mohali village,the district health authorities said four more cases of the disease were reported at the civil hospital on Thursday. Civil Surgeon Dr Avtar Singh told Newsline that while 42 patients had been discharged,36 patients others still admitted in the civil hospital were stable.
As the sources of contaminated water were disconnected two days ago and clean potable water supply was provided,the epidemic has shown restraint, said Dr Singh. He added that preventive steps like health camps,
chlorination of water,health education and spraying of insecticides were being undertaken in Mohali village and other slums in the district.
