Helmetless driving claims life of 27-yr-old

A 27-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a truck near Kalibari traffic light point on Tuesday morning.

A resident of Kurali village in Patiala,Karamjit was on his way to Panchkula from Sector 47. When he reached the light point,a rashly driven truck (PB 12 A 4741) hit his motorcycle from the rear. Karamjit,who was not wearing any helmet,was crushed under the wheels of the truck and sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 32,where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police have arrested truck driver Dhyan Singh and a case of causing death due to negligence under Section 304-A of the IPC has been registered against him at the Sector-31 police station.

Karamjit was employed as a driver with a Panchkula-based employer.

He is survived by his parents and an elder brother. His father is a farmer,said the police.
