Harpal tricks CISF into semis

A Superb hat-trick from Harpal Singh steered CISF into the semi-finals after a morale-boosting 10-6 win over ONGC on the third day of 7th Olympian Dharam Singh Hockey Tournament held at Sector 18 Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

Harpal scored his first goal in the sixth minute and he followed it up with goals in the 15ht and 16th minutes,respectively. Vikas Toppo and Amit Bhargav netted a brace while Jasbir Singh,Baljinder and Karamjit found the net once each. For ONGC,Cyril Ekka and Harish Sharma came up with a brace each. Parvez and Ravinder Singh slammed one goal each for the team.

Meanwhile,in another match of the day,BPCL thrashed IOC by 11-5 in a one-sided affair to put their foot into the last four. Ravipal and Jarnail pumped in as many as five goals while Irshad Ali scored a solitary goal. For IOC,Amanpreet scored a hat-trick while Jatinder and Sandeep Singh scored one goal each.

In the Hockey carnival Six-A-side event,Chandigarh Kings thumped Chandigarh Heroes by 10-4. Both the teams were locked at 2-2 till the half time. Reena of Chandigarh Heroes was adjudged the man-of-the-match for her splendid performance.
