Two gunshots were fired following a scuffle in Burail village,Sector 45,on Tuesday.

Two gunshots were fired following a scuffle in Burail village,Sector 45,on Tuesday. The incident took place when two rival groups were called by the village panchayat to reach compromise in a property dispute.

During the course of discussion,a heated argument began following which Ankush and Rajat,sons of Ram Kumar,attacked the other party.

Kumar is the president of the Sector-45 Market Association. He had a dispute with one Jasbir Rana over a shop. The two groups had reportedly scuffled on Monday night.

Soon,Ankush and Rajat were joined by around 40 men,who came armed with swords and hockey sticks in cars.

In the melee,the attackers fired two shots in the air. Rana’s brother Baljinder Singh sustained minor injuries in the incident.

“It seems like a planned attack. Ankush called his friends,who assaulted Jasbir Rana and others with swords,baseball sticks and rods. We have impounded three vehicles with swords,baseball sticks and rods,” Uday Pal,SHO of Sector-34 police station,said.

The police said Ankush was a law student of Panjab University and the attackers were SOPU supporters. Kumar and Ankush have been arrested under various sections of the IPC.
