Even as the UT Vigilance department probes the role of estate officials who allegedly sold off an NRIs property without his knowledge,UT Estate Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner R K Rao on Friday issued orders, suspending two officials. Those suspended include Sant Ram Kashyap (Superintendent) and Narinder Kumar Verma (Junior Assistant).
The suspension comes a day after Assistant Estate Officer Ashwani Kumar was transferred from his post and given charge as Land Acquisition Officer.
Highly placed sources with the Estate Office said prima facie investigations in the case indicated the involvement of the three officers Ashwani Kumar,Sant Ram Kashyap and Narinder Kumar Verma, who dealt with the official file in question.
While their individual roles are being ascertained,it was necessary to remove them from their posts. The role of senior officials of the Estate Office is also under the scanner, said a senior UT Administration official.
He added: There is no doubt that the General Power of Attorney (GPA) was tampered with. This was not possible without connivance of insiders and the guilty will not be spared.
Officials of the UT Estate Office,in connivance with a few lawyers, had allegedly issued a no-objection certificate and registered the sale deed of a shop-cum-flat in Sector 20 without the knowledge of its owner,Tara Singh, who lives in England.
The NRI brought the matter to the notice of the home secretary on Wednesday, following which the Vigilance department registered a criminal case and started investigations.
Sale deed to be cancelled, issued afresh
After NRI Tara Singh met UT Deputy Commissioner R K Rao on Friday, the DC ordered for cancellation of the initial sale-deed registered on the basis of the forged GPA.
It is learnt that the Estate Office will execute a fresh sale-deed in favour of Tara Singh.
