Governor presides over first LPU convocation

Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil,while presiding over the first annual convocation of Lovely Professional University.

Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil,while presiding over the first annual convocation of Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Friday strongly advocated the need for focused attention on quality education and high standard research by reshaping the roadmap of academic curriculum to realize the goal of a knowledge society.

Describing the teachers as instruments of change,Patil called upon academicians,educationists and intellectuals to develop action-oriented and progressive programmers,to encourage youth to achieve academic brilliance and take the state forward on the fast track of growth and development. He said institutions should continuously learn,improve and upgrade their knowledge,to make the emerging challenges of globalization.

Appreciating the role of LPU,Patil said the university in its march towards excellence,has introduced many new job oriented and market friendly courses. It has thereby provided a sense of rejuvenation into academic life of the University during a short span of about nine years.

He also awarded medals and degrees to the Graduates,Post-Graduates,Diploma Holders,M-Phil students for 2007,2008,2009 and 2010 batches. Suresh Kumar,IAS,Principal Secretary,Technical Education & Industrial Training,Punjab,was the Guest of Honour. Over 8000 students were given their degrees,medals and prizes at the University Campus. Dr. Vijay Gupta,Vice Chancellor of the University presented the Annual Report of the University.

Chancellor of the University Ashok Mittal,the Chairman Ramesh Mittal; Vice Chairman, Naresh Mittal; Executive Dean Rashmi Mittal,Registrar Dr. Monica Gulati,Sr. Deans: Dr. Sanjay Modi and Dr. Loviraj Gupta and other 168 members accompanied the Academic Procession.
