Golden Temple threat mails: Police send data retrieved from arrested engineer’s devices for forensic analysis

According to police sources, the data recovered from Dubey’s devices is extensive. “Our investigation is moving in the right direction. We have been examining the devices belonging to Shubham and will soon crack the case,” said Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

Sources indicated that the e-mails were not limited to the Golden Temple. Similar emails were reportedly sent to authorities in several cities, including Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Delhi, Guwahati, Patna, Imphal, Kochi, Jaipur, Ranchi, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not visiting Amritsar even once despite the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee receiving e-mails threatening to blow up the Golden Temple in the past few days.

He pointed out that the security around the Golden Temple is the responsibility of the Central and the state governments.

“Today is the sixth day of these threats, but Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has not come here even once,” said Aujla. Aujla appealed to CM Mann to face the people and give them complete information about the matter. “Why has he himself not come to Amritsar yet?” he asked.

The Congress leader said devotees are worried over the bomb threats and slammed the AAP government, saying the issue cannot be resolved by staying “hidden”.
The Amritsar MP said he is in touch with the SGPC, and the government should resolve it as soon as possible.

MLA Rana Gurjit Singh said the state government should look into this issue seriously. “This is the age of technology, and criminals can be reached by using technology,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan visited Golden Temple and addressed concerns about the threat e-mails. He said, “This is a sacred place where people of all faiths come for peace and protection. The police and administration are investigating the emails sent by mischievous elements. One person has already been arrested, and others will be arrested soon.”

Sandhwan added, “Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is in constant contact with security agencies and the district administration. We assure everyone on behalf of the Punjab government that there is no threat or cause for concern.” He said Punjab Police is working “day and night” to maintain security around the Darbar Sahib complex in accordance with established protocols.

He appealed to the public not to react to the threats. “We assure the entire Nanak Naam Leva Sangat that there is no danger. There is no need to be provoked. Have faith in the Guru’s house. Our agencies are working to apprehend the culprits.”

Separately, BJP’s acting Punjab president Ashwani Sharma and national general secretary Tarun Chugh visited the Golden Temple. Sharma said, “We have not come here as political leaders but as part of the Nanak Naam Leva Sangat.”

Sharma questioned the Punjab government’s response, saying, “The state government started acting only three days after the threats. The Chief Minister should have visited on the first day, but it took him four to five days. Even now, the response is not prompt.”

He added, “The government says the culprits have been caught, yet threats are still being received. The state government has made this issue a joke.”
Punjab Police has not yet commented on the claims regarding delayed action. The investigation remains ongoing.
