GMSH patient attempts suicide

A 24-year-old patient at Government Multi Specialty Hospital- 16 (GMSH- 16) allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Wednesday,by jumping off the second floor of the hospital building.

A 24-year-old patient at Government Multi Specialty Hospital- 16 (GMSH- 16) allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Wednesday,by jumping off the second floor of the hospital building. The patient was admitted in the hospital on September 15 when a squall hit the Tricity. The patient suffered facial injuries after the fall. The Chandigarh police has registered a case against him for attempt to commit suicide under Section 309 of the IPC.

On September 15,Pankaj was admitted to GMSH- 16 after he complained of “feeling unwell” during the squall that hit the Tricity,which left more than 48 people injured and three dead. A call was made to Police Control Room by the public and Pankaj was taken to the hospital. Though,Pankaj did not suffer any physical injuries he was still hospitalised for further examinations,police said.

A home guard volunteer who was present on duty at the hospital after Pankaj was admitted,in a written statement to the police,claimed that Pankaj had told him he was unhappy with his life,police said. On Wednesday at around 6.40 am,Pankaj attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the second floor of the building.

According to the police,the cause of Pankaj’s attempt to suicide has not been identified yet as he was declared unfit by the doctors to give a statement. Details about Pankaj’s residence and his family members have also not been identified by the police yet.
