At the outset,Vivek Atray confesses that he didnt have to go through trials, tribulations and a writers block to pen his first novel,Move On Bunny. The words came easy, the flow was uninterrupted and the process has left him happy and itching to write more. Looking back,I dont know why I stopped at 160 pages, says the civil servant, who is a writer at heart.
Released on Friday evening,Move On Bunny is the life diary of a character called Bunny Kapoor, and his rather uproarious (read filmy) escapades. Published by Prakash Books, its a journey of an intelligent, ambitious and raring-to-go young man,who believes that no dream is small. Bunny is drawn from everyday life,he is not an exception, but a smart young man who is willing to take risks with a smile, says Atray.
However, his journey is full of fun – there are pesky bosses and demanding girlfriends to deal with, but Bunny manages to keep his cool. A ladies man,Bunny keeps landing in sticky situations, but he also has a knack of wriggling out of each one, banking on two companions lady luck and the ladies! Through this simple story,I have made a conscious effort to make readers laugh out loud, says the author, adding that he is not a funny man,but his writing certainly is.
Writing middles for many national dailies full of wit and humour, the author says that it was constant appreciation that gave him a high and made him move a step ahead to write a novel. It all began in 1995,when I was the SDM of Kalka that I wrote my first middle,On Hands and Knees ,and ever since, the words kept coming easy. Atray admits that his job also gives him a chance to meet people with an interesting side to them. And these experiences, along with his fertile imagination, made him write this novel. Atray already has a new book in his head, except that this time its going to be an inspirational one.
