Forwards hand DAV Academy win

Buoyed by a fine display by their forwards,DAV Academy,Sector 8,scored an emphatic 8-1 win over Wanderers in a league match of the U-19 Chandigarh State Hockey Championship being played at Sector 18 hockey ground on Tuesday.

Buoyed by a fine display by their forwards,DAV Academy,Sector 8,scored an emphatic 8-1 win over Wanderers in a league match of the U-19 Chandigarh State Hockey Championship being played at Sector 18 hockey ground on Tuesday. DAV Academy forwards played an attacking game and they weer in control of the match right at the start of the match.

The match started on an aggressive note for the DAV Academy as Sunil scored a field goal in the very first minute of the match. The DAV forwards stepped up the tempo and made some fine attacks into the opposition half. But it was Gurpreet who scored the equaliser for Wanderers in the 14th minute of the match.

Sunil scored his second goal for the team when he netted a goal in the 20th minute of the match before Amit extended lead by scoring the third goal in 24th minute for DAV Academy. Rohit then scored in the 41st minute.

DAV forwards kept attacking the opposition half and made fine individual sallies to thwart the plans of the opposition Rohit scored his second goal of the match in the 46th minute before Amit scored the sixth goal for the team in the 50th minute. DAV defenders thwarted every attack of the opposition and managed to score two more score before the final whistle. Amandeep scored the seventh goal in the 55th minute before Narinder scored the eighth goal in the 58th minute of the match.

In another match of the championship,Chandigarh Hockey and Football Academy scored a 3-1 win over rock Rovers Academy. Gurinder scored the first goal for the team in the eight minute when he successfully converted a penalty corner.

CHFAs Kanwaldeep Singh scored a filed goal in the 28th minute. Gagandeep extended the lead for CHFA when he scored a goal in the 38th minute before Bikramjeet made it 3-1 by scoring in the 49th minute.

State Boxing Championship from June 1
Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association will organise the 34th Senior Men and 10th Senior Women Chandigarh State Boxing Championship at PML SD Public School,Sector 32 from June 1 to June 2. The competition will be held in all the ten weights in the senior categories and after the championship,Chandigarh teams for participation in the Nationals Championships will also be selected. The participating boxers are required to bring medical book of IBF with them and entry will be accepted at the time of weigh-in on June 1 between 8am to 10 am at the venue with the authority letter issued by the head of the institution or club.

Handball meet on the anvil
Chandigarh Handball Association will organise the 24th Junior (Boys & Girls) State Handball Championship at Coaching Centre,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19,from June 1 to June 3. Players born on or after January 2,1991 are eligible to participate in the event. Teams should submit their entries before May 31 to Kashmir Singh ( 9815908557) at DAV School,Sector 8,and Anand Singh Rawat,DPE (9888519722) at GMSSS-19. Selected players will then represent Chandigarh in the 33rd Junior Boys National Handball Championship going to be held at Chennai (Tamil Nadu) from June 22 to 27.

Softball trials today
Chandigarh Amateur Softball Association (CASA) will conduct trials at Government College for Men,Sector 11,May 19 at 3 pm for the selection of the team for the 28th Junior National Softball Championship at Pondicherry to be held from May 25 to 30. Players born on or after 01.01.1992 are eligible for the trials.
