Let’s get imaginative. That is the mantra of the two-day workshop on animation on at Dikshant Global School,Sector 12,Panchkula. Almost 40 students in the age group of 6 to 14 are part of the workshop,being conducted by KS Govindrajan and Subashish Neogi. The goal is to achieve implementation of animation in media education in the school system and stimulate creativity in students to enable them to do boring tasks in a mindful and spirited way,opening up possibilities for innovation. Students learnt basics of animation,creating simple characters like birds,animals et al in a sequential manner with different movement of body parts. They created flip books to view movement of characters and were taught to make animation by using stick figures and stick animator. “We must help children achieve their full creative potential; our education must focus on nurturing every child’s creativity,” said Mitul Dikshit,Director of the School. The school is deciding to make space centre,media centre lab,Geography Lab etc and more emphasis will be given to the theatre.
