After the success of their ‘Hospitality,Aviation & BPO Employment Fair’ in September 2009,Career Weavers Consultants,a human capital management organization based at Chandigarh,rolle dout their second employment fair ‘The Grand Employment Fair 2010’ on Friday. The unique Fair saw more than 2,000 candidates,both fresher students and experienced candidates,from various sectors vying for jobs. More than 10 leading corporates participated in the job fest which was offered free to the candidates by Career Weavers. Leading names like Indigo Airlines,ITC Maratha-Mumbai,ITC Grand Central-Mumbai,Genpact,Aegon Religare,Oberoi Delhi,IBM Daksh,Spice and CCD participated in the fest. The job fest was held at Hotel Piccadilly,Sector 22,from 10 am to 5 pm.

Clean currency!
THIS Friday saw HDFC Bank organize a ‘Coin Mela’ at their Sector 28 A,Madhya Marg branch for the residents of Chandigarh. The mela was inaugurated by J B Mangla,Asst. General Manager,Issue Department,Reserve Bank of India. He appreciated the effort of the bank in conducting such awareness programme and stressed the importance of adhering to the Clean Note Policy. The initiative was an extension of RBI’s Clean Note Policy to overcome the shortage of coins and provide fresh notes in exchange of soiled ones. The bank disbursed over Rs. 13 Lakhs of small denomination currency coins / notes during this exercise. Speaking on the occasion,Krishan Kumar,State Head – Wholesale Banking Operations,North remarked,“The ‘Coin Mela’ was a big success and I believe it has helped to overcome the shortage of coins in the city.”

CHANDIGARH Institute of Hotel Management organised a blood donation camp in association with the Department of Transfusion Medicine,PGI Chandigarh on Friday. The camp was sponsored by the Sector 42 branch of State Bank of India. The Director Tourism and Chief General Manager CITCO,Amandeep Kaur was the chief guest on the occasion. T K Berry,Regional Manager,State Bank of India who himself donated blood was also the guest of honour on the occasion. The blood donation camp is part of the social activities organized by the Institute from time to time. This is to inculcate the habit of social work and make students aware of the importance of blood donation. 114 students and staff of the Institute and Hotel Chandigarh Beckons donated blood on the occasion.
