A Fun Republic!
With Republic Day around the corner,city-based event organiser and designer Rashmi Bindra has decided to make the most of the occasion. Shes bringing together a show that will not just boast of a designer spread but will also incorporate the Republic Day theme. The show,titled Winter Wonder,will roll out on January 23 and 24 and will offer branded jewellery,clothes,bags,photography,perfumes,chocolates,furniture,home furnishings et al at Hotel Shivalik View. According to Bindra,the special attraction of the event would be Lailas Art from Pakistan who will bring a range of screen printed suits. Another highlight will be nail art and hair extensions brought in by Ritika Nainta,a former MTV Splitsvilla contestant. There will also be a kids corner and we would ask visitors on-the-spot questions regarding our Indian Republic. There will be prizes to be won for the correct answers, explained the organiser who has recently participated in the Wills Fashion Week 2010 with her Spring Collection.
Speaking of a designer spread,Bindra lists out names like Monte Carlo,Deiva,Diyaz,Organza,Ds creations who would be showcasing their designs at the event. Also a part of the show will be coordinated Pashmina bags and suits by Sheena as well as a range of embroidered suits and hand embroidered bedcovers from Chennai. The show would also pack in a special jewellery section with both precious as well as semi-precious Indian and Western jewellery on offer. Sri Gurudev would showcase its photography and for those looking to dress up their homes,there will be stalls by Resberrie,Roma Fabrics,Gujrat Hasthkala to list a few.

Helping Hands
SANKALP,a social organization formed by the students of DAV College,Sector 10 recently donated Rs 50,000 to Rajwinder Kaur,a two-year-old girl who is undergoing treatment at PGI. Kaur is suffering from TOF (Tetra Cardiac of Fallot),a kind of heart ailment and is required to undergo ICR or Intra Cardiac Repair. The cost of this operation is approximately Rs 90,000. Now with Sankalps donation,Kaurs treatment has started and the group hopes to get the remaining donation as early as possible. The father of the child,Shingara Singh is the only source of income for the family of six. He is a daily wage labourer who earns about Rs 2,000 per month. This is the fifth donation done by the organisation which collects money by various methods such as market collection,donation day,charity shows etc. Sankalp is also associated with the Maloya-based Snehalya,a home for children at risk. Sankalp regularly makes donations there in cash and as well as kind.
