The legacy left behind by Le Corbusier has always been a matter of debate. The planning of Chandigarh has been put to the test in almost all the quarters – road patterns,sector layouts,distribution of civic amenities,future growth but it still seems to appeal to the critics in the field of planning and architecture, remarks Surinder Bahga,Chairman of Indian Institute of Architects,Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter. Given that,The Indian Institute of Architects is now organising a seminar on Chandigarh: Beyond Corbusierism on April 28 at the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10. Here,while Rajendra Singh,a community leader in Rajasthan,will be the chief guest,Dr SS Bhatti,former Principal,Chandigarh College of Architecture,will speak on Chandigarh: Past,Present and Future and Jit Kumar Gupta,Director,College of Architecture,IET,Bhaddal will deliberate on Redefining Chandigarh Periphery. Others who will speak on the occasion include Dr Gopal Krishan,Dr Rajesh Gill,Prof JS Ghuman,SL Kaushal,SD Sharma,HS Bhogal and Ravinder Khosla.

With environment sustainability immerging as a big issue,Yes Bank too takes a positive initiative. It organised a water conservation workshop for children below 12 years at its Sector 9 branch as part of its Yes Community,a unique responsible banking program. The aim of the programme being to impart knowledge through fun activities by engaging with communities around the branch neighbourhood and constructively engaging children to create awareness on socially relevant topics.
