In response to the increase in air traffic from the city,GoAir is expected to introduce another flight in the Chandigarh-Delhi-Mumbai sector in another month or so.
Jet Airways,meanwhile,plans to upgrade the existing aircraft for the Chandigarh-Delhi route to Boeing. This would enable the airline to accommodate more passengers for Delhi.
It has also changed the departure time of the flight from Chandigarh. The changes would be implemented from March 28.
Certainly,there is demand for the Delhi and Mumbai section from Chandigarh. The airline is planning to add more flights for these two destinations. The decision would be taken by March or April, a senior official of GoAir said.
The change in aircraft by Jet Airways would create an additional 106 seats. The present aircraft carries only 62 passengers. The Boeing would,however,accommodate 168 passengers.
Moreover,Jet would run the flight in early morning the flight would depart from Chandigarh at 8.55 am instead of 10.35 am.
The aircraft update and changes in timing have been done keeping in mind that the demand for the Delhi section would substantially increase over the time, said Jet Sales Manager Gurkiran Singh.
More airlines are expected to change flight timings in March.
