The tug-of-war over the much sought after seat of Lehra between coalition partners CPI and Peoples Party of Punjab has finally ended in the latters favour.

The tug-of-war over the much sought after seat of Lehra between coalition partners CPI and Peoples Party of Punjab has finally ended in the latters favour. Comedian Bhagwant Mann will take on Congress Legislative Party leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

The Sanjha Morcha considers it a a safe seat that can be clinched by their candidate. Bhattal,a former Congress chief minister who has once again staked the claim to the CMs post,had won the seat by a slender margin of 270 votes in the 2007 polls.

The PPP announced its second list of 20 candidates while CPI announced three (from Bhoa,Sahnewal and Ghanaur) on Saturday. PPP had to sort out the seat adjustment with CPI as Lehra,in a pre-poll alliance,had been marked for the Left,which had even announced the candidature of Satwant Singh Khandewad.

The other two contentious seats of Muktsar and Tarn Taran,to which the CPI had staked claim,have also gone to the PPP.

10. Lakhwinder Singh Lakha: Rampura Phul
