Former Federal Minister for Law,Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Vice President of Pakistan Peoples Party,Zaheer-ud-din Babar Awan stressed on the need for cooperation and dialogue between both countries.
On his maiden visit to India on the invitation of various Bar Associations of India,Awan interacted with the Amritsar Bar Association on Saturday. He expressed his pleasure on having got a chance to visit the Golden Temple and in particular the Jallianwala Bagh.
Welcoming the meeting between heads of both countries,Awan said while attending a media interaction session organised by the Punjab and Haryana Bar council,Both India and Pakistan, even though are nuclear-powered nations, know that they cannot change their neighbours, but that they can change their outlook. These are testing times for the leadership in both countries,so dialogue and regional cooperation is the only way forward as without it no big dispute has ever been solved.
He urged the media to promote the dialogue between both countries. Lawyers in both countries want the prisoners who are lodged in jails in India and Pakistan to be released after completion of their jail terms as it is against the UNs Human Rights Charter. Both countries should work to make visa regulations easier, said Awan.
