The Chandigarh police arrested three persons for the murder of a 19-year-old Ramdarbar resident on Saturday night. The victim identified as Lakhwinder alias Makhan Singh,was thrashed with sticks and received serious head injuries. He succumbed to his injuries at General Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,on Sunday. The deceased worked as a driver in a private firm.
The accused have been identified as Jaspal Singh (49),Manish (24) and Vijay alias Monty (27). All the accused belong to Ramdarbar. While Monty is the son of Jaspal,Manish is his (Jaspals) son-in-law.
The police have registered a case against the three on a complaint of Raj Kumar,the brother of Lakhwinder.
Raj Kumar alleged that the Jaspal,Manish and Monty used sticks and stones to beat his brother on Saturday night. The victim was seriously injured and was rushed to the GMCH-32,where he succumbed to his injuries at 12.05 am on Sunday.
During interrogation of the three,it was established that two more persons were involved in the attack.
Over a small argument,Lakhwinder,who was a neighbour of Jaspal,along with Pankaj Thakur and Ashok alias Shoki had assaulted Jaspal and he suffered fractures to his leg and arm.
The trio were arrested by the police in this regard. Later all three manged to get out on bail.
The accused were involved in an old dispute with the deceased. Previously,Jaspal was injured in an attack by the deceased and a case in this regard was registered on October 14. On Sunday,Jaspal along with his son and brother-in-law and two others thrashed the deceased with sticks in order to take revenge, Inspector Jaspal Singh,Station House Officer of Sector 31,told Newsline.
A local court on Sunday sent Jaspal and Manish to judicial custody while Monty has been remanded in police custody for two days. The other accused are absconding.
A case of murder,furtherance of common intention, and criminal conspiracy has been registered at the Sector 31 police station.
