ETO,four others injured in accident

Five persons including the Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Chandigarh,his gunman,driver and two others were injured,when an Ambassador and a Lancer car collided at the Sector-8 internal road on Friday afternoon.

The Ambassador was headed towards Sector 7 and the Lancer was coming towards the main road. Following the accident,the Ambasador somersaulted and hit a Honda Active scooter,whose driver Surinder Singh suffered a fracture in his leg. The injured,ETO Rajesh Ari,his driver Amrik,gunman Ashok,Lancer’s driver Tanvir and Surinder,were taken to the Sector 16 hospital. While Ashok and Surinder sustained grave injuries,others suffered minor bruises.

“I was driving my scooter,when the Ambassador turned turtle and hit my scooter,” said Surinder,a resident of Manimajra and an employee with a pharma company .

“It was the fault of the Lancer’s driver as he suddenly came in the way and hit our vehicle,” said Amrik. The police have booked Tanvir Singh for rash and negligent driving under Section 279,337 of the IPC.
