Engineering colleges: PEC a favourite among applicants

Like admissions to Bachelor of Commerce (BCom),admissions to various branches of engineering at five institutes are also centralised.

Like admissions to Bachelor of Commerce (BCom),admissions to various branches of engineering at five institutes are also centralised. The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),Panjab University (PU) is coordinating the admissions. Over 8,500 applications have been received against around 1,200 seats in various undergraduate branches of engineering.

This time admissions are based on the JEE Advance Test.

The five institutes include – University Institute of Engineering and Technology,PU,PEC University of Technology,University Institute of Engineering and Technology,Hoshiarpur,Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology,Sector 26,and University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET),PU.

According to last years record,PEC is the most preferred engineering college,followed by University Institute of Engineering and Technology,PU.

The University Institute of Engineering and Technology will be publishing a final list of eligible candidates for filing of choices on July 15,then students have to fill their choices from July 13 to July 17 till 5 pm.

Mock counseling will take place from July 15 to 17,locking of choices by the candidates by July 17 till 5 pm. University Institute of Engineering and Technology would allot seats on July 19. Students can submit the fees from July 19 to July 21 till 5 pm and after July 21,the second round of counselling will start.
