‘Terrible of Aditya Dhar to make Dhurandhar’: Shraddha Kapoor doesn’t want to wait 3 months for the sequel
Shraddha Kapoor took to her Instagram to praise Dhurandhar and expressed her desire to watch it again, if not for the fact that she was shooting the next day.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues its formidable run at the box office. Within 11 days of its release, the gangster saga directed by Aditya Dhar has grossed Rs 379.75 crore and is now steadily closing in on the Rs 400 crore mark. Alongside its commercial success, the film has also been drawing widespread appreciation from within the industry. Celebrities such as Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Allu Arjun, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, among others, have publicly praised the film for its scale and storytelling. The latest to join the list is Shraddha Kapoor, who watched Dhurandhar recently and shared her reaction on Instagram, expressing her excitement for Part 2, which is slated for an Eid 2026 release.
On Monday, Shraddha posted her review in a series of Instagram stories. On the first slide, she wrote, “Truly terrible of Aditya Dhar to make a film like Dhurandhar,” followed by a second slide that read, “and then make us wait three months for Part 2. Don’t play with our emotions, prepone the release please. What a phenomenal experience. Subah shoot nahi hoti toh kasam se abhi hi dobara dekhne jaati (had I not had a shoot in the morning, I would have gone again to watch the film). Chhaava, Saiyaara, Dhurandhar, all in 2025 Hindi cinema.”

In another story, she also went on to applaud Yami Gautam, Aditya Dhar’s wife, for speaking out against negative publicity campaigns and for standing by the film through its release. “From Yami Gautam having to call out the rampant negative PR machinery to manufactured controversies, Dhurandhar endured it all and came out shining. No bad force can pull a good film down. In audiences, we trust,” she wrote. Aditya Dhar later reposted Shraddha’s story and responded by sending her “lots of love.”

While the film has largely been celebrated for its raw, inventive storytelling and massive scale, it has not been without controversy. Hrithik Roshan found himself at the centre of a social media backlash after sharing a nuanced response to the film, calling out its troubling politics. In an Instagram story, the actor wrote, “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can’t ignore how loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”
Interestingly, Aditya Dhar did respond to Hrithik’s appreciation, though not to the Instagram story. Instead, he replied to a separate tweet by the actor, in which Hrithik had praised the film and expressed his anticipation for Part 2. Aditya Dhar in response wrote, “Deeply humbled by your love for #DHURANDHAR, @iHrithik Sir. Every actor and every department gave more than 100%, and your appreciation is a huge boost for the whole team. Thank you for celebrating their craft. Part 2 is coming and we’ll try our best to live up to this encouragement.”
