Christened ‘Khalbali’,the fest kicked off on March 22,and takes one through the various facets of life. Take the play that was staged yesterday,Chehre,which unravels the real faces behind the social masks. Written by Shankar Shesh and directed by Sudesh Sharma,the play was about a group of people who get stuck in a dark cave,and it’s this darkness that throws light on their true being which is greedy,deceitful,and fickle-minded. “The play is a perfect blend of drama,lust,romance and comedy,” he adds. The second play Nabhikund is a narration of the widespread evil corruption while Love,System and Dhoka,falls into the street play genre and gives us a panoramic view of society. The aim of the fest,says Seny,is to talk through the plays. “We want to send a message to people and urge them not to give into the pressures of life,of the system,and hold on to the integrity and character in them,” says Naresh Kumar,a third year student who is part of the play Nabhikund.

Another first is a dance extravaganza. “This will be a parody and will see us dancing to old and new songs,” says Karan Modgil,a final year student,who is heading the dance wing.

While it took a lot of effort to organise the festival,“It’s our love for theatre and the appreciation of students that has kept us in the game,” says Harshit Bahmann,who’s directing the street play,Love,System and Dhoka that will be staged on March 28 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This will be followed by Chitrahar,another dance extravaganza which will be hosted in the last week of April.
