The tulip garden in Kashmir is being opened to the public today. You must be wondering if we can grow tulips in the tricity. The answer is yes. See the accompanying picture. These tulips have been grown in a house in Sector 15. The bulbs are sown like any other winter bulb in late October. The plants give bloom, but the stick is not as long as the one you get in Kashmiri conditions. You cannot use the bulbs next year and will have to buy the seasoned bulbs again. At the time of planting, the bulbs should be treated with bavistin, dipping them in a solution made by dissolving two grams in a liter of water.
