A lawn is like an empty canvas, and whoever makes a perfect drawing has an edge over others. There are two types of features in landscaping the fixed and the temporary. Both must be attractive and created with caution. The flower beds, for instance, are a temporary feature that require a great deal of care. The shape should be perfect a circular bed should be a full moon shape,a rectangular one should have straight and perpendicular sides. Else, the anomalies become irritants, drawing attention to the fault rather than the contents of the bed.
In winter,as there are many annuals, one can temporarily create beds even in the middle of a lawn. See the accompanying picture for the perfect effect. Take care that no plant comes out of the boundary of the bed.

Can I keep cacti indoors like other indoor plants? Satbir,Chandigarh
Cacti need plenty of sunlight, though filtered,in many cases. Do not keep a plant that is too thorny indoors if there are small children or toddlers in the house. You can keep some succulents indoors for a few days but,by and large, these are outdoor plants.
