District Magistrate Prabhjot Singh Mand on Tuesday imposed restrictions on the printing and publication of election-related pamphlets,posters and other material in the view of the August 3 Banur Assembly bypoll.
In an order issued to the proprietors of all the 45 printing presses in the district,the DM stated that no election material shall be printed without clearly indicating in the print line the name and address of the printer and publisher.
No printer shall publish any election material without taking a declaration in writing from the publisher in duplicate as required under Section 127-A (2) of the Representation of the People Act,1951, stated the order.
A copy of the declaration,with four copies of the printed material,has to be submitted to the DM within two days of printing. Violators may face imprisonment and the license of the printing press may be revoked under the relevant laws,added the DM.
