Ahead of Diwali,Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal announced payment of arrears to the Class III and IV employees,which were due on account of the revision of pay scales. The arrears will be paid in cash before the festival.
Making the announcement before the media on Monday,Dhumal said Class IV employees of the state would get all arrears,while others would be paid Rs 10,000 out of their total dues pending.
This,he said,would entail an expenditure ranging between Rs 175 and Rs 200 crore to the state exchequer.
Dhumal said all departments had been directed to release payment to their employees in cash.
Replying to a query,the CM said the states financial position was not very good and problems were aggravating.
On Sunday,NGOs Federation a government employees body asked the chief minister to release arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission before Diwali as the employees had been facing hardships in view of the rising prices.
