A Deliveryman of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distributor sustained multiple injuries after three members of a family allegedly attacked him in Phase IV on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the trio attacked Dharamveer Singh of Mohali Gas Enterprises after he refused to supply LPG without the requisite entry into the consumer booklet.
Singh has lodged a formal complaint with the Mohali police and the Indian Oil Corporation authorities in the city. Taking a serious note of the incident, the LPG Delivery Men Association has threatened to halt supply from Monday,if the accused are not arrested.
In his complaint,Singh said that when he went to a house in Phase IV to deliver a refilled LPG cylinder and demanded the consumer booklet,a woman told him that it was not available at the momnet. Since making entry in the booklet is mandatory,Singh asked her to ensure its availability till Friday, when he would visit the area again.
The woman and two others thrashed and abused me before snatching away the LPG cylinder, said Singh, adding that he was left injured in full public view. Singh was taken to the Civil Hospital, where the emergency medical officer examined him and reported blunt injuries, including abrasions and blood oozing out from different body parts. The police said the house of the accused was found locked and that the efforts were on to locate them.
