Taking suo motu cognizance of the report published in The Indian Express on Monday (May 10) Dead fish in Satluj again raise stink the Punjab State Human Rights Commission has called for a report from the Punjab government on the matter through the Ropar DC and the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) secretary by June 22. It was reported that thousands of fish were found dead along the 9-km stretch from Bala Dhyanai to Daroli village in Nangal. The PSHRC said most of the dead fish have found their way in the market,and this would be dangerous for human consumption. The fish had been found floating near the effluent discharge area of National Fertilizers Limited.
