Badminton players from Panchkula who have brought laurels to the city by winning medals in various national as well as international competitions were honoured by Pankaj Yadav,Deputy Commisioner Panchkula and president,District Badminton Association,Panchkula at Conference Hall ,DC Office,Sector 1,Panchkula. The shuttlers had won medals in the recently held National Championship held at Pune and were honoured by Yadav.
The players who were honoured were Akshit Mahajan,Saurav kapoor,Deepak Khatri,Jagriti Nashier,Daksha Gautam,Krishana Kapoor,Ayush Gautam and Kartik Jindal. Akshit Mahajan,a student of Hansraj Public School ,Panchkula and a product of HAFED badminton Nursery won the U-19 boys’ doubles title in the Sushant Chipalkatti All India Major Ranking Tournament held at Pune and also led Haryana to team gold medal in the 55th National School Games. Saurav Kapoor led Punjab University to the title win in the All India Inter-University Championship held at Mangalore (Karnataka) and remained unbeaten in singles as well as doubles category. Saurav will be taking part in the World University Games. Deepak Khatri,a product of HAFED academy was a member of the Haryana team which won the gold medal in the 55th National School Games held at Pune from February 1 to February 4.
Ravinder Sharma,also a product of HAFED Academy claimed two silver medals in SAI School Nationals held at Rajnand Gaon,Chattisgarh from December 3 to December 9 apart from winning a gold medal in the team event in the CBSE badminton Championship held at Mohali.
