The Jat agitation continued in Haryana and neighbouring states for the 12th day on Friday. With agitators continuing to hold sit-ins on rail tracks,several trains in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were cancelled.
Despite being given an assurance by the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram,that the government will look into their demands,Jats are continuing their agitation.
Yashpal Malik,the president of the All India Jat Arakshan Samiti warned that Jats would seal Delhi on March 21,cutting off its water supply if their demand of reservation in government jobs under the OBC category was not met.
Haryana Chief Minister,Bhupinder Singh Hooda,on Friday,hoped that the issue of Jats demanding reservation would soon be resolved and that he had already written to the Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh to get the members of the Jat community in Haryana included in the list of Other Backward Classes.
