Daredevils on his mind

Aseem Kakkar,a city based cricketer and a member of the Delhi based Pelicans Cricket Academy will be playing two practice matches for the Delhi Daredevils in the second season of the Indian Premier League.

Aseem Kakkar,a city based cricketer and a member of the Delhi based Pelicans Cricket Academy will be playing two practice matches for the Delhi Daredevils in the second season of the Indian Premier League. Both the matches will be played at Durban,South Africa. Kalia is one of the nine players who have been chosen apart from the final 21 players,who will be travelling with the team and will form the replacement group for the team.

Delighted on this achievement,Aseem said “I have very happy about getting the call. I have to submit my documents on Tuesday. My passport is already with my club but they need some additional papers too.” said Kalia. When asked about getting the chance to play practice matches for Delhi Daredevils,Kalia said “I have signed a two-year long contract with based club Chestword Sporting Club. In last session,I scored 357 runs and got 45 wickets too. Looking at my performance Sudhir Tyagi,Pelicans Sports suggested my name to Delhi Daredevils management. I will be in South Africa with my academy team for a cricket series which will be held from April 21 to May 1. During this I have been called to play practice matches on April 20 and April 23 with the Delhi Daredevil team.”

Delighted on getting a chance to play with stars like Virinder Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir,the young cricketer is elated. “I attended a Ranji trophy coaching camp in 2005 with Virender Sehwag and some other prominent players but it will be my first chance to play with these legends.” said Kalia. The right-hand opening batsman and right-arm offspinner bowler plans to play Ranji trophy from next session. He represented Sikkim last year.

Asking about this move,Aseem said “I am playing for Haryana from last few years in the Ranji Trophy. Sikkim Cricket Association approached me to play for them after seeing my performance.” said Kalia. Aseem is leaving for South Africa on April 15 with rest of Delhi Daredevil team.
