Chandigarh:The 2nd All India Under-19 Invitation Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy will be held at Chandigarh,Mohali and Patiala from October 1 to 13. A total of eight teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament. The participating teams are Punjab,Vidarbha,Odisha,Bengal,Mumbai,Hyderabad,Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The teams will be drawn in two pools; Pool-A will consist of Punjab,Vidarbha,Odisha and Bengal and Pool – B will have Mumbai,Madhya Pradesh,Hyderabad and Himachal Pradesh. The league matches will be of two days duration with 100 overs to be bowled on each day. The final would be played at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium,Patiala.
Shooting Cship from Sept 22
Chandigarh:Chandigarh Rifle Association will conduct 13th Chandigarh Inter-School Shooting Championship on September 22 and 23 at St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44. The competition will be held in Air Rifle and Air Pistol event in the boys and girls categories in junior (below 19 years) and sub-junior (below 15 years). Only bonafide students of the Chandigarh schools are eligible to take part in the championship. The participants who obtain qualifying score will be eligible to represent Chandigarh in the XVI All Indian Kumar Surendra Singh Inter-School Shooting Championships to be held in Hyderabad from October 16. The entries will be accepted at the venue till 10.00 am on September 22 through the principals of the respective schools.
Sports extravaganza on cards
Chandigarh:Schoolzworld.com under the patronage of Chandigarh Olympics Association is organizing the second edition of the Mini Olympics in Chandigarh from October 8 to 12. It will be a five-day long event where more than 6000 students from more than 100 schools from Chandigarh,Panchkula,Mohali and surrounding cities are coming together to show their best.The five days sports fiesta will have 24 different events taking place simultaneously around the city at various sports venues,namely: athletics,archery,badminton,basketball,boxing,chess,cricket,cycling,dance sports,football,gymnastics,handball,hockey,judo,karate,kho-kho,lawn tennis,netball,shooting,skating,table tennis,table soccer,volleyball and wrestling.
Badminton team named
Chandigarh:A seven-member team will represent Punjab in the Senior National Badminton Championship which will be held at Srinagar from September 26 to October 3. Abhinav Manota,Love Kumar (Jalandhar),Raj Kumar (Ludhiana),Harinder Singh (Patiala) will lead the charge in the men’s category. Damanpreet Kaur (Sangrur),Shahnaz Khan (Jalandhar) and Neelam will represent Punjab in the women’s category. Vinod Vatrana and Charanjit Singh will accompany the team as manager and coach respectively.
