Couple commit suicide at Kishangarh house

Kumar Gaurav got married to Shruti on February 9,2009,at the Sector 23 temple. It was Gaurav’s second marriage,since he had got divorced from his first wife. Gaurav’s mother Rama Devi lives in Sector 20. His father Ravinder Kumar had already expired. Soon after his marriage,Gaurav and Shruti started living in a rented accommodation in village Kishangarh.

Since Gaurav had done a course in computers and information technology,he along with his wife Shruti,started a computer-hardware business from his residence in the village,about six months ago. Within a few months only,he suffered a heavy debt of around Rs 2 lakhs,for which he had close down his computer-hardware business. To bail himself out of the debt,he started a cycle parts business,but could not sustain for long and suffered another financial loss.

According to the investigating officials,Gaurav went to his mother’s home on Thursday morning and shared his deplorable financial condition with his mother Rama Devi. “He was very depressed and told me that he had suffered around Rs 3-4 lakhs loss in the business. He said that he has no reasons to live now,as he could not recover from such a heavy debt. I told him that he should not think that weak and try hard. I told him to believe in God,who would help him out of this bad phase. This morning I kept on calling him on his phone but he did not answer. I got a little worried and when I reached his place in Kishangarh,the door was open and both Gaurav and Shruti were lying unconscious on bed. I called the neighbours,who came and checked that both had died”,Rama Devi told the police,in her statement.

“We have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure and are further verifying certain more aspects. Prima-facie,it appears to be a case of suicide. We have also recorded statements of the village Sarpanch and Gaurav’s neighbours,who too corroborated the financial debt theory,as narrated by Rama Devi”,said SI Sakattar Singh,the investigating officer of the case.
