Cops question prime suspect in acid attack case

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and furtherance of common intention against Bhupesh and one unidentified person.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and furtherance of common intention against Bhupesh and one unidentified person. Police has questioned Bhupesh,a Chandigarh resident staying in Sector 49.

The police had suspected it to be a case of one-sided love affair. Bhupesh had allegedly made several proposals to Swantika (one of the girls injured in the attack) and his involvement in the attack is suspected.

On Thursday evening,Swantika,Shefali and Rakesh Kumar were seriously injured when two unidentified motorcycle-borne men threw acid on them while they were waiting to get petrol filled in their car at Daun village near Balongi. The pillion rider was allegedly carrying a container which was used to store acid used in the attack.

The three were admitted to the PGI,Chandigarh. Swantika and Rakesh sustained serious burn injuries on their face,hands and back.

All the injured were working in a Rudraksh Immigration firm,Phase 1. Rakesh Kumar,a resident of Mohali ran the firm while Swastika and Shivalika,both hailing from Himachal,were employees at the company. They were heading to Chintpurni in Himachal Pradesh for a religious trip after closing their office when the alleged attack took place.
