Cops fail to recognise DCP in civil dress, ask her to take breath test, later get rewarded for vigilance
Speaking at the event, the DCP emphasised the department’s commitment to encouraging disciplined, honest, and responsible officers

For their display of alertness and dedication to duty, five police personnel from Panchkula were honoured by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shrishti Gupta. The felicitation ceremony was held at the DCP office in Sector 1, Panchkula.
Notably, Gupta recently conducted a surprise late-night inspection of police checkpoints across the district to assess readiness and review the ongoing campaign against drink driving.
During the inspection, an incident occurred when the DCP, dressed in civilian clothes and driving a private vehicle, was not recognised by the checkpoint officers. The policemen followed protocol, questioned her, and even asked her to blow into the breath alcohol tester. Impressed by their commitment to duty, Gupta honoured the police personnel with a cash reward.
Among those felicitated were SPO Dharmveer and SPO Surjeet Singh, who played a vital role in intercepting a Bolero vehicle smuggling illegal liquor. Their alertness and swift action at the checkpoint led to the seizure of contraband.
Home Guards Praveen Kumar, Kishan Singh, and Mohit Kumar were also specially recognised for their proactive work during the drink driving checks. Their efficiency in the challan process significantly contributed to the success of the campaign.
Speaking at the event, the DCP emphasised the department’s commitment to encouraging disciplined, honest, and responsible officers. “Police play a crucial role in ensuring public safety and crime control, and constant vigilance is necessary at all levels,” she said.
Gupta added that recognising such efforts not only boosts the morale of the honoured individuals but also inspires others across the force to perform their duties with integrity and dedication.
