The Commissioner of Police,Ambala and Panchkula,A K Dhul on Saturday suspended an Assistant Sub Inspector,Ishwar Chand who was the incharge of police post Maddawala for his failure to check illegal mining in the area.
The suspension of Chand was ordered as there were many complaint of illegal mining in the rivulet area between Navanagar and Khokhara village of Panchkula area.
The suspended police officer has failed to control the illegal mining in the area, the order said .
Panchkula police had recently banned the entry and parking of JCB machine,tractor-trolley or any other excavating machinery near the rivers during night hours in the district by invoked 144 of CrPC. But sources said that despite the ban order,the violation was going unabated. The mining and geology department had issued nearly over 800 challans and lodged 12 FIRs for the illegal mining in the district. The department had also collected nearly Rs 45 lakh from violators.
And to further tighten its noose to check the illegal mining,the Commissioner of Police has also constituted a police team compromising of two inspectors along with other personnel to keep a check on the violations.
The team will keep a regular check on such areas where complaints about illegal mining are pouring in, police said.
The district administration had recently asked the officers of Excise and Taxation department to conduct strict checking of vehicles coming from Punjab,Himachal Pradesh and other neighbouring states at various check points to check illegal mining and its transportation.
