Congress sharpens attack against BJP over corruption

After Congress Legislature Party (CLP ) leader Vidya Stokes took on the government head on regarding corruption during the debate on the state’s budget for 2012-13.

After Congress Legislature Party (CLP ) leader Vidya Stokes took on the government head on regarding corruption during the debate on the state’s budget for 2012-13 in the Assembly,PCC president Kaul Singh Thakur further sharpened the party’s attack claiming that “corruption has become a non-issue” for BJP regime.

He said the people are waiting for the opportunity to overthrow the corrupt BJP regime in the next assembly elections. Thakur termed the budget, presented by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal,as “visionless document”. “The government has failed to do anything on resource mobilisation and most announcements made in the budget are allurements in view of the upcoming elections. The budget will turn out to be a big liability for the next government,” he said adding that the budget was neither practical nor pragmatic. And did nothing to help unemployed youth.

He accused the government of patronising corruption and failing to utilize funds received from the Centre under schemes like MGNREGA .Thakur advised the government not to take undue credits for the achievements of the previous congress governments.

On Thursday,Vidya Stokes had raised the party’s serious apprehensions about the state taking a big blow on the developmental front because of scams and corruption coming to fore in the past four years.

Stokes had said “Corruption in the state has reached such a level that it’s going to be a drain on funds earmarked for development.”

BJP MLA J P Nadda also delivered his last speech in the Assembly few minutes before his election to the Rajya Sabha.
