The Congress governments decision to increase fuel prices has invited flak for the party from various political quarters in the city.
President of the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit Kamla Sharma said the hike in fuel prices comes as a setback for people before the budget.
BJP General Secretary Sanjay Tandon added that the government has given a clear message that it will not hesitate to take any decision,even if IT causes inconvenience to the common man. The Communist Party of India (CPI) stated that the government has increased the financial burden on the common man. CPI Secretary Devi Dyal Sharma demanded that the prices be rolled back immediately.
President of the Janata Party Ajay Jagga also condemned the hike in fuel prices saying the decision will hit farmers,who need 20 litres of diesel per day to run tubewells for irrigating their fields. It was on Wednesday that the Centre decided to hike the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 4 and Rs 2 per litre respectively.
