Rebel Congress councillor Jagjit Kang who filed a petition challenging the election of Congress councillor Ravinder Pal Singh as Mayor has made a strange resolution. With there being two entrances to the office of the Municipal Corporation,he has decided not to enter the MC office building from the side that leads to the Mayor’s office. He opines that only when the petition reaches a conclusion that he would take the other route.

Ward off the evil eye

President of Chandigarh unit of Congress B B Bahl while passing a political resolution in a meeting of the party said that they would aim to win 22 seats in the elections of the Municipal Corporation. He then added that while there are 26 seats in total,all the party wanted was 22. The reason – “hum saari seats jeet kar apne maathe par kalank nahi lagana chahte”. To those wondering he explained that every mother after dressing up her child puts a black mark to save him or her from the evil eye. The party just wanted that little black mark.

Clouds did Badal in

At a sangat darshan programme of Punjab Chief Minister,Parkash Singh Badal,in Nayagaon recently,the sudden inclement weather forced the administration to shift the function from open area to a hall of a farmhouse. With the gathering touching almost double the hall’s capacity,the intense suffocation and overcrowding forced many to leave the venue. On being quizzed,the officials,who were incharge of making the arrangements,quipped,“Clouds did Badal in. What can we do?”

Recently one of the private hospitals in the city called the media to witness the bonhomie and the relationship of patients with the hospital after they were cured. The event saw over 70 patients,mostly senior citizens come up and organise a grand lunch at one of the hotels in the city. It was implied that the event was organised by the patients who spent money from their own pockets to show gratitude to the hospital. In reality,it turned out that the hospital had spent the entire amount and the patients were only called in to enjoy ,all expenses paid for by the hospital.
