Punjab Chief Minister P S Badal gave a clean chit to former DGP Punjab Mohammad Izhar Alam against serious allegations levelled by Sant Samaj leaders. He said that he had not heard anything wrong about Alam in the past.
Sant Samaj had alleged that Alam was involved in killing many innocent Sikh youths when terrorism plagued the state.
Damadami Taksal led Sant Samaj was an alliance partner of SAD(B) in the recently-held SGPC elections and also has announced its support to the party in the assembly elections. Taksal leader,Harnam Singh Dhuma had even demanded the prosecution of Alam after levelling serious charges against him.
Notably,SAD(B) has appointed former DGP as constituency in-charge of Malerkotla. He is also being projected as a candidate for the coming assembly elections.
